What to bring, itinerary and other things to remember

GREETINGS FELLOW TRAVELLER!!

We are thrilled that you are joining us on our bus pilgrimage to RENDEZVOUS 2011!  8 days and nights of travelling, experiencing new places, sharing time with friends, finding out about other United Church communities, and the list goes on!!

There is some important information we want to share with you about this trip….read on!

·         We leave on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from the MAIN BUS TERMINAL in Vancouver at precisely 7 am.  Please be at the MAIN BUS TERMINAL at 6:45 am.  If you are meeting us at the Coquitlam Greyhound Bus Terminalplease be there by 7:20 am.  You must contact Pamela Jeffery at pamela_J@telus.net if you are meeting us in Coquitlam – otherwise, we will assume you are at the Main Terminal.

·         Your flight information for coming home on Sunday, August 14th will be emailed to you directly.

·         PLEASE BRING…
**May we start by saying… EVERYTHING you bring needs to be packed in something that can be carried by YOU…on the bus trip and on the plane!  There is limited space on the bus – please pack wisely and keep your bag small.  May we suggest a duffel bag that carries everything?  **You are allowed one bag on the plane and one carry-on bag. **

  • LUNCH for the trip to Calgary – a bag lunch as we are eating on the road….
  • WATER BOTTLE
  • Sleeping Bag, Sleeping Pad
  • In your CARRY ON – please make space for your bathing suit and towel, aqua shoes, sunscreen, etc…you will not be able to access your main luggage during the bus rides and our expectation is that we will be swimming in pools and/or lakes every day (taking advantage of shower facilities so pack accordingly in your carry on). *
  • Towel, facecloth (please label)
  • Clothes (for warm days and perhaps, cooler evenings!)
  • Toiletries – toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, etc…
  • Camera, Ipods, etc.  *please note – you are responsible for your electronics and making sure they are safe!  There also will be time on the bus and during our “visits” when we will ask that you put away all electronics for our community time*
  • Travel Games (that will fit in your bag)
  • Prescribed Medications – to be given to our First Aid Person on the 4th
·         TRAVEL SICKNESS – a very long (and fun!) trip is ahead of us – please let us know before the trip if you suffer from travel sickness so we can ensure a healthy trip for everyone!
·         SPENDING MONEY – Meals and Accommodation are covered except for your dinner on Sunday the 14th (the night most of you fly home) … Slurpees and souvenir costs are not covered J
·
STOPS and STARTS – A full itinerary will be emailed to you in the last week of July.  Just so you know, however – this is a general overview of where we will be:
  • August 4 – Vancouver to Calgary
  • August 5 – Calgary to Regina
  • August 6 – Regina to Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • August 7 – a Day in Winnipeg
